An Immersive Exhibition Experience

We finally made it to see our first immersive exhibition. Monet's Garden in Hamburg. We were incredibly excited to see what was behind the "immersive concept“.

"Multimedia illusion of image and sound" through a "3D mapping projection system", we couldn’t imagine much about that. Would the exhibition turn out to be a technical tour de force with annoying gadgets? Or would we actually be able to dive into the world of Monet and his paintings?

Playfully we explored room after room, experimented with the wall projections, painted water lilies, marvelled at them as a projection in the water lily pond, and got into conversation with the other visitors. Thus, pre-chilled, we suddenly found ourselves in the showroom, the highlight of the exhibition.

We watched the show twice. First with eager anticipation and just wondering and enjoying. The second time from ever-changing perspectives and in expectation of our favourite scenes and effects.

What we found particularly interesting, apart from the actual show, was the feeling of connection with the other visitors. Everyone enjoyed as they liked, no one bothered with anyone else, but we were all part of this amazing experience. Quite relaxing and peaceful.

Long story short: the exhibition was fantastic! Not to mention the impressive life and work of Claude Monet, which opened up to us as if by magic. But that is a story in itself ...

A tip: Drink plenty of water beforehand! It’s pretty warm and dry in the rooms.
