Contra Force was a third NES Contra game released only in the US, shortly after Contra III: Alien Wars was released on SNES. The original Japanese version called Arc Hound with no relation to the Contra Series was canceled.

This edition for PC is a fixed up remade version with stages from the other two NES Contras added to it. Seems to be single player with four characters, each character having one life and a different secondary explosive weapon. You can continue as many times as you want. When you beat a level you have everyone back on the next. Occasionally you can find a resurrection medikit which brings back one of your einherjar (valiant dead). For primary weapon, each soldier has a certain one or two. Three of your guys don't crouch low enough to evade a lot of projectiles. One guy lays down low like the original Contra. Seems you have to beat the three sets of Contra 1, Super C, and Contra Force levels to enable the last set of levels. Overall, freaking awesome Contra game!
