Watch Hunting in Davos, Switzerland

On Tuesday my wife and I were invited to a World Economic Forum media party in Davos. I'm not a supporter of the WEF but we visited this historic mountain town anyway to look for watches and clocks!

Historically those in power have always sought greater wealth for themselves at the expense of everyone else. The WEF is no different. The WEF's urgent cries for a new kind of "globalism" based on whatever imaginary crisis they're able to cook up next is an attempt to centralize global political control to their own advantage. From pandemics, to global warming, to my favorite: their own institutionalized racism, the WEF is responsible for creating a constant state of panic over real problems that the liberal democracies of the world have been progressively addressing for centuries. It hypes the urgency of these problems for no reason other than as an excuse to smash and grab power and replace individual rights of freedom of speech, freedom of movement, and freedom of commerce, with a global system of centralized undemocratic governance that they themselves control.

This will not solve any of the problems that the WEF deceptively pretends to care about: from pandemics, to global warming, to racism. And neither will it solve the macroeconomic problem than many of us care about the most: the problem of endless unnecessary military conflict. It will only exacerbate all of the above as top-down totalitarian political movements always do.

The obviousness of this to some, and the blindness to it of others, is already tearing nations and alliances apart and will continue to do so until we collectively put an end to it.

The WEF annual meeting in Davos was from Jan 21 - 24, 2025.
