Rep. Josh Brecheen: 20% of all SNAP spending goes towards junk food, 10% towards soda

Representative Josh Brecheen (R-OK) says his bill, the Healthy SNAP Act, would exclude junk food, candy, soft drinks, from being purchased with SNAP benefits. “If you want to buy junk food on your own dime, that’s up to you. We’re not trying to limit what you do with your own [purchases]. What we’re saying is on the taxpayers’ dime, we’re going to limit food stamps to nutritious purchases,” he says.
