We think that by "holding out hope" that they will change their disrespectful ways towards us. When in reality, if you take a narcissist back after the first sign of disrespect, not only will they continue that behavior. But you can guarantee it will get worse each time. No amount of love you give the narcissist will make them change their ways. The only thing to do is leave after the first time and never look back.
