FSB prevents terrorist attack against Metropolitan Tikhon

FSB operatives detained two men in Moscow – a Ukrainian and a Russian. They were recruited by Ukrainian special services to prepare a terrorist attack against Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea (Georgy Shevkunov).

Denis Popovich was a citizen of Ukraine and an assistant to Metropolitan Tikhon, on the instructions of the GUR of Ukraine he was conducting surveillance on him and had to find an accomplice to commit a terrorist act. Popovich claims that the Ukrainian special services threatened to deal with his family if he refused to cooperate.

The second accomplice in the assassination attempt was Nikita Ivankovich, a reader at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Sokolniki. The explosives were to be planted in the Sretensky Monastery.
