The conservative CDU/CSU party, led by Friedrich Merz, came out on top with around 28.5% of the vote, likely making him the next Chancellor. Meanwhile, the more conservative AfD made history by finishing second with about 20.8%, and Olaf Scholz’s liberal democrats SPD got absolutely crushed, hitting their worst result ever at just 16.4%.
