Using My Camco Wave Heater While Tent Camping

Introduction: In this video I share my experiences using the Camco Wave 8 Catalytic Heater in my tent and show how small amount of propane I’ve used on my last few campouts. This heater has been a game-changer for me, especially during those chilly nights on the road.
Overview of the Heater: The Camco Wave 8 Catalytic Heater is a propane-powered heater designed for small spaces and works great in my 10’ x 10’ Kodiak Canvas tent. It's known for its safety features and efficient heating capabilities. The heater operates without an open flame, using a catalytic process to produce heat, which makes it a safer option compared to traditional propane heaters.
Installation and Setup: Setting up the Wave 8 was a breeze. It comes with clear instructions and and the feet provide options to move it anywhere I want to put the heater. The heater has a piezoelectric ignition system, so starting it up is as simple as turning on the gas and pressing the ignition button.
Performance: I've been using the Wave 8 for a long time in multiple states and weather conditions/temperatures and I'm impressed with its performance. It heats up my tent quickly and efficiently, even on the coldest nights. The heater has adjustable settings, allowing me to control the heat output from 4,200 to 8,000 BTUs. This flexibility is great for maintaining a comfortable temperature without wasting propane.
Safety Features: One of the standout features of the Wave 8 is its safety design. Since it doesn't have an open flame, the risk of accidental fires is significantly reduced. Additionally, the heater has an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) that automatically shuts off the heater if the oxygen levels drop too low. This is crucial for preventing carbon monoxide poisoning.
Ventilation: Proper ventilation is essential when using any propane heater. The Wave 8 requires at least 24 square inches of fresh air venting to operate safely. I personally have my upper windows open in my tent and leave approximately a twelve-inch opening by my cot where the hose goes outside to connect to the propane tank.
