Pacific414 Pop Talk Watch Party Double Feature: The Haunting (1963) Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Welcome one and all to Pacific414 Pop Talk for Sunday, March 2nd 2025!

On this afternoons edition of Pacific414 Pop Talk, we are hosting a watch party double feature with our first film of the afternoon being the 1963 horror classic, The Haunting.

The Haunting is a horror film based upon the Shirley Jackson novel The Haunting of Hill House.

Here is a synopsis of what the film is about.

Hill House has stood for about 90 years and appears haunted: its inhabitants have always met strange, tragic ends. Now Dr. John Markway has assembled a team of people who he thinks will prove whether or not the house is haunted.

The Haunting is directed by Robert Wise who would later go on to direct Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). The Haunting stars Julie Harris, Claire Bloom, Richard Johnson, and Russ Tamblyn.

The second film of today's double feature will be the 2004 comedy horror Shaun of the Dead starring Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright wrote the screenplay for the film with Edgar Wright also serving as director in this buddy of an electronics salesman and his lay about roommate trying to survive the zombie apocalypse.

These two films may share the same genre, but they are two completely different experiences that offer terrifying moments in one and comedic laughter in the other.
