Following the dramatic collapse of a February 28, 2025, White House meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, support for each leader diverged sharply. Trump's base rallied around him, with many praising his "America First" stance after he berated Zelenskyy for ingratitude and pushed for an immediate ceasefire with Russia. On the other side Zelenskyy garnered strong backing from Ukrainians and European leaders, who hailed his defiance as a defense of Ukraine's sovereignty against Russian aggression.
