Did Lamont Roach Get Cheated vs Tank Davis? Fans Seem to Think So

Many are speculating what happened in the aftermath of the Tank David vs Lamont Roach fight. Until the 9th round, Lamont gave Tank Davis all he could handle.

The fight was close, and Lamont didn't run, or try not to engage. He did the total opposite. Roach wasn't afraid of Gervonta's power. He got hit a couple of times with the left hand of Tank, but it did nothing to him.

Lamont looked like a tactician in the ring on a mission. He was calm, poised, had a high ring IQ, and displayed good punching power. Lamont cut the ring off very well and forced Tank to fight.

Normally, it wouldn't be advised for a fighter to fight Tank the way Lamont Roach fought him. However, Lamont showed the blueprint for exactly how to fight Gervonta Tank Davis.

No one gave this guy a chance, including myself. We all owe Lamont Roach an apology.

As for what happened in the 9th round. Once Tank took a knee, after what looked like a delayed reaction from Lamont Roach's right hook to the jaw, that was followed up by 2 jabs.

Fans believe Lamont Roach was cheated. I don't want to focus on the scorecards per se.

I want to focus on the rule as it relates to the course action that's supposed to happen when a fighter stops the action by taking a knee, sticking his head out of the ring, and getting his face wiped by his trainer.

Tank decided to take a knee, similar to what Jermell Charlo did against Canelo Alvarez. However, in the middle of the round, Tank runs to his corner and sticks his head between the ropes to get his face wiped off.

At that point, the fight should have been stopped, and Tank should have been disqualified per the rules. Rick Glaser explained this perfectly on last night's interview.

No matter the race, religion, color, or creed of the fighter. No matter who the fighter is, or where the fighter is from.

At no point in time should a fighter be allowed to stop fighting, run to his corner, stick his head through the ropes, and make contact with his trainer during the round.

It doesn't matter what the intentions were, that's irrelevant. It's the action that warrants the disqualification, not the intent. So, based on the rules, why was the fight allowed to continue?
