Eleanor and Park is just one of many disturbing books that are in elementary schools across Canada and many other countries.

Member of Parliament of British Columbia, Canada John Rustad reads from the book Eleanor & Park during parliamentary session. The words are so disturbing he was instructed to stop, and he then had the words removed from record. His question to the Minister of Education “If the words I just read were inappropriate and unacceptable and clearly disturbing for this house, how is it that those same words are appropriate to be read by kids as young as 11”?
