I cannot help but wonder if this is why the conflagration in Washington on Friday occurred, and on national and international television. Could it be that someone with mining and geological knowledge gained access to Trump and his team just before the expected signing of a REALLY BAD DEAL for minerals from Ukraine? Even I know that "rare earth" minerals are very minute in that region, and the only lithium ore available there is petalite. This ore yields only about one gram per ton of rock processed. And it is the processing that is the money pit. Unlike the superior ore, "spodumene", petalite takes multiple processes to gain a usable form for ionization. In other words, the Soviets never bothered because the cost was out of proportion to the potential profits. Even the Chinese passed on the deal. Trump was about to make a LOSING DEAL.
