The time has finally come, 83 year old Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell is retiring. According to Politico, McConnell will announce that he will not seek reelection in 2026 later today. While this decision was expected, McConnell previously refused to step down after multiple health issues which concerned me that he may stick around despite deteriorating.

Famously, McConnell froze while giving a speech after he suffered from a concussion. And just recently, he fell down a flight of stairs which shows his condition is not improving. It looks like being the longest serving Senator isn't an accomplishment people should strive for.

This initiative responds to various conspiracy theories questioning the existence of the gold at Fort Knox.
