March 3, 2025 at 1:30 PM in Des Moines at the Iowa State Capitol a subcommittee hearing was held to discuss the SF360 bill attempting put regulations on gene based mRNA, modRNA, and self-amplifying RNA, and DNA). The bill would prohibit the administration of these products until they undergo more thorough long term safety testing. Several individuals spoke in favor and in opposition to the bill.

Dr. Jonathan Crosbie from the Des Moines University Clinic spoke in opposition to the bill. "It is difficult to think that we would be sitting here today. Five years ago I had to run around town trying to find N95 masks for Mercy hospital because they had 200 for the entire hospital at the start of the Covid Pandemic. Now we have over a million people in the ground. They died because of Covid. That's a thing that happened in America. Now aside from being a practicing physician, I also teach at Des Moines University, and I will tell you this right now our students want no part of practicing here with bills like this on the table. You are chasing them off. Go ahead! Pass it! Chase off the best and brightest! By all means go ahead! As the kids are saying these days "Go ahead and F' Around." Sooner or later you're gonna find out."
