Apr. 9, 1965 - The Houston Astros celebrated the opening of their $31.6 domed stadium tonight with a 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees.
President Johnson and Texas Governor John Connally were among the crowd of 47,876 that gathered for the grand opening of the huge, domed affair. The exhibition game was the first professional baseball game ever played indoors.
