Apr. 26, 1965 - Here is a clip from Defense Secretary Robert McNamara’s nationally televised press conference today. He reported that aggressive North Vietnamese operations against South Vietnam have “grown progressively more flagrant.”
McNamara said North Vietnamese infiltration of soldiers and supplies for the Viet Cong insurgents “continues to play a vital role” in the war, apparently despite bombings of infiltration routes.
The press conference was, in effect, a curtain raiser for a news conference at 4 p.m. tomorrow by President Johnson.
