Apr. 27, 1965 - The U.S. will stand firm and resist aggressors wherever they attack, whether or not such actions win “friends” for this nation, President Johnson declared today.
“From Munich until today, we have learned that to yield to aggression brings only greater threats and more destructive war,” he said. “To stand firm is the only guarantee of lasting peace.”
At a televised news conference in the White House East Room, Johnson reaffirmed his offer to hold unconditional peace talks with any government at any time.
