MZTV 1685: When Becoming a Living Sacrifice is Relaxing (Read SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Below)

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

I'm writing this on Wednesday evening, having recorded the video last Sunday.

Today (Thursday) is the 65-mile run. (65 at 65.) Someone thought it was a race, which is a normal thought. But no. I don't do many normal things. This is a solo adventure. My son Gabe was going to come down and drive along, ministering to Pops at break spots, but Gabe couldn't make it at the last minute. He'll be encouraging me from Ohio.

I did the 62-mile run across New Jersey by myself back in 1982, so going solo again.

That seemed like a jolly holiday. This feels heavy. I think it's going to be rough. But we will see. I'd ask for your prayers, but there are people suffering REAL things out there who you should pray for. I'm just a guy who inconveniences and tortures himself. Pray for people with REAL problems.

I'm starting at 4 AM from my driveway in Ft. Lauderdale and hoping to finish 20 hours later at midnight just north of Jupiter, FL. It may be 1 AM. I'll give you the full report on Monday.

It's our apostle's habit to begin his letters with doctrine and then finish with deportment, that is, exhortations concerning behavior. This is the proper order of things. We cannot exercise good behavior until realizing that God loves us unconditionally apart from our behavior. This is the great paradox of Paul.

It is the opposite of the Christian world, which makes good behavior the key to unlocking God's deepest heart and His secret revelations. Nope. God gives these things to unworthies. First stunned and then delighted, the unworthies then want to live a life of thanksgiving to the One so gracious to them.

Who is more likely to lead a life worthy of Christ? Someone in awe and thankful to God, or a soul with the gun-barrel of Moses shoved up against his forehead?
