Arrested for Exercising His First Right

Police officers responded to Bay View Park in reference to a report that there were three people drinking at the park, harassing, and causing disturbance.

The officer who first arrived at the location noticed a male walking away from the area. The officer made contact with a female who was seated on top of the Christmas Santa Sleigh. He observed two open containers within reach of the female and twisted tea cans laying on top of the Santa sleigh. A speaker was also playing loud music, and there were chips/plastic bags laying on the grass near these individuals.

The officer explained the violation to the female subject. One male subject started walking towards the officer and sarcastically responded to the officer’s question. Another male subject approached them and wanted to remind the officer about an article addressing his rights, later raising his voice at the officer.
