Rep. Rosa DeLauro: "Revenge and Self-Adulation Instead of Solutions"

Rep. Rosa DeLauro: "I was truly astonished that the election was fought over the cost of living and the families living paycheck to paycheck, worried about whether they would be able to pay their bills, afford healthcare, or even put food on the table. Moreover, tonight’s speech did not address any of those issues, nor the fact that people are struggling to make ends meet. What we should be doing in Congress is ensuring that we are helping people secure an economic future for themselves and their families.

I found the speech vindictive and vengeful, and instead of being inspiring, the hopes and aspirations of the people of the United States about how to move forward as the great nation we are and what our vision for the future should be were simply reduced to resentment and self-adulation on behalf of Donald Trump. It did not address the issue of unchecked billionaires, like his friend and ally, Elon Musk. It was not a speech befitting a great world leader or a great President of the United States."
