On March 1, 2025, Officer Jacob Brooklier of the Warren Police Department heroically saved the life of a 12-year-old boy who had nearly drowned at the TownPlace Suites Hotel in Warren, Michigan.

Around 6:55 p.m., while Officer Brooklier was at the hotel on an unrelated call, a frantic 911 report came in about a child who was unresponsive and not breathing after being pulled from the hotel's pool. Responding immediately, Officer Brooklier sprinted to the pool area, where he found bystanders attempting CPR on the boy.

Taking charge of the situation, Officer Brooklier initiated chest compressions. He continued these life-saving efforts for two minutes, coordinating with bystanders and communicating with incoming first responders. His decisive actions successfully revived the child just as the Warren Fire Department arrived on the scene.

The boy was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was soon stabilized. He has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.
