The Carnival Imagination, a Fantasy-class cruise ship, once docked beside the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, creating a striking contrast between old and new.

From the back, the ship’s tiered decks overlooked the water, with a pool area and a twisting waterslide adding a playful touch.

Above it all, the ship’s red and blue whale-tail funnel, a signature of Carnival’s fleet, towered over the decks.

Moving forward, the Promenade Deck stretched along the midsection, lined with bright orange lifeboats.

The ship’s white hull, with a thin blue stripe near the waterline, reflected the sunlight, giving it a clean, classic look.

Large windows and a glass-covered atrium at the center allowed natural light to flood the ship’s interior.

At the front, the bridge extended slightly outward, giving the crew a clear view for navigation.

The bow sloped downward, designed to cut smoothly through ocean waves, while a helipad sat at the very front.

Just below, the anchor and mooring equipment were housed in a reinforced section built for docking.

The ship measured 855 feet long and weighed 70,367 gross tons, making it a mid-sized cruise ship for its time.

Powered by diesel-electric engines, it could travel up to 19.5 knots, with twin thrusters providing smooth maneuverability.

Though scrapped in 2020, the Carnival Imagination’s time beside the Queen Mary was a unique moment—a meeting of two very different but equally iconic ocean liners.
