This circa 1930 silent reel, Landscape Forestry, aka Forestry and Roads, showcases projects by the Outdoor Service Bureau, Landscape Foresters, of 853 Walnut St., Lemoyne, Pa. Titled "Forestry and Roads" onscreen, it features tree surgery and arborist work: trimming for I.H. Doutrich, blasting a stump near Mechanicsburg (Blasting out a Hard Problem), and topping Carolina poplars. Boob, Hen, and crew wrestle and lunch by burning brush, while Harrisburg sees big tree transplants and North 2nd St. scenes. A Pennsylvania stone quarry, black walnut logs for an arms company, and Kennett Square’s old paper mill runs appear, alongside a horse cart, a long line of “procrastinators,” and graffiti for “Pete.” A vivid snapshot of 1930s forestry and roadwork.
