Ved | Visual Novel meets Turn Based Strategy

My reviews cover indie games that i have bought, had gifted to me and have been provided by developers for review.

In this episode I check out a new strategy game ive been following for quite a while called Ved. This game is the breakout title by small developer Karaclan, and is published by Fulqrum Publishing, who released several excellent Indie Games ive previously reviewed including Forgive Me Father, Dread Templar and Stygian: Reign Of The Old Ones. Ved is a mix of Visual Novel and Turn Based Strategy Game, boasting a unique hand drawn art style. We follow the adventures of a young man called Cyrus, who was partially blinded early in life and has travelled to the city of Micropolis in order to make a fresh start. After a rescue attempt of another citizen goes wrong, Cyrus unlocks magical abilities allowing him to teleport between the real world, and a mysterious fantasy realm, where his coming has long been prophesised. Your actions, battles and decisions will determine the future of both realms, will you become a saviour, or a tyrant using your magical abilities for personal gain.

Veds boasts a story based visual novel format wih branching narrative, that changes based on the players decisions throughout the campaign. The game also utilizes a turn based combat system, where the player can unleash a wide array of powerful spells. With each battle youll gain magical power, which can be used to upgrade your village in the magical realm, unlocking more powerful spells to help you in future battles. While the games story feels a little disjointed and confusing in the opening act, it does get far better further on into the game, so if your a fan of Visual Novels or turn based strategy games, or if your simply looking for a game with a unique look and feel, i recommend giving Ved a try.
