Natural Insect Repellent DIY
This guide provides a simple and effective method to create a homemade insect repellent using common household items: paper, toothpaste, coffee grounds, and cloves. The process involves making a roll that burns slowly, releasing repellent smoke to keep flies, mosquitoes, and gnats away. Safe for children and pets, this economical solution is perfect for combating insects during hot and humid seasons.
Suffering from flies and insects at home? This homemade tip uses simple items: paper, toothpaste, coffee grounds, and cloves. Easy, economical, and effective!
Materials: paper towel, toothpaste, dry coffee grounds, and cloves. Everything you already have at home to naturally repel insects.
Step 1: Take a paper towel and make a line of toothpaste in the center. You don’t need much, just enough to cover part of the paper.
Step 2: Spread the dry coffee grounds over the toothpaste. The grounds help with slow and steady burning, increasing the effectiveness of the repellent.
Step 3: Add a handful of cloves over the mixture. Cloves contain eugenol, a natural repellent that keeps flies and mosquitoes away.
Step 4: Carefully roll the paper, forming a small roll. Make sure the mixture is tightly packed for even burning.
Step 5: Fold the tip of the roll to prevent the mixture from coming loose. Place the roll in a heat-resistant cup (do not use plates or Pyrex).
Step 6: Light the tip of the roll. It will burn slowly, releasing a repellent smoke that keeps flies, mosquitoes, and gnats away.
Step 7: Place the lit roll in a corner of the house, preferably on the floor, away from flammable surfaces. The smoke will spread throughout the environment.
Safety tip: Use heat-resistant containers and keep the roll away from children and pets. The smoke is safe, but fire requires caution.
Duration: The roll burns slowly and can be reignited if it goes out. The repellent smoke lasts a long time, ensuring prolonged protection.
Versatility: Make smaller sachets and distribute them around the house, but always on safe surfaces, like stones or granite. Avoid wood or plastic.
Why it works? Cloves have eugenol, a natural repellent. The coffee grounds maintain slow burning, and the toothpaste holds the mixture together.
Economy and practicality: Ideal for hot and humid times when insects reproduce more. A homemade, safe, and fragrant solution!
Safe for children and people with sensitive skin. Avoids chemicals and uses accessible items. Try it and share with friends and family!
