Because as per the law, as they became private for profit corporations, they can only do business with other legal entities (corporations)...your birth certificate made you into a corporation.

It's optional, but nobody knows that.

It's been inserted into our lives that it's nearly impossible to leave without that number.

Why do the utility companies need it?

Why can't you simply give a deposit and make a utility in any name you want??

Why does it matter what name you use when you fly?
It only matters that you're not dangerous.

It's not the law that a bank requires a Social to open an account but try opening one without it.
