Many leaders in the international community cheered when Bashar al-Assad's regime collapsed in Syria, ignoring the warnings that while the strongman was
brutal, he was holding back an even worse disaster. Now that the former leader has been deposed, Syria has spiraled into ethnic and religious conflict, with the country's Christians suffering some of the most horrific violence.
