Someone recently joined the channel who had the word butterfly 🦋 in their name. I wish to pay homage to their name.

I went through a type of chrysalis.in 1972. I took some where between 100 to 150 tabs of LSD and or some type of hallucinogenic drug between 1972 and 1975.

I had several mind bending – mind opening events occur to me.
I had read a book about a character named Papillon.
Unjustly accused of murder Consigned to the French Legion. Papillon had a zeal to be free.

I took on the caricature of a freeman. Then I had a Butterfly tattooed on my right forearm.

I have met two men and one woman who took on themselves the mantle of Papillon.

A Second World War veteran of the Navy. He had heard that butterflies can’t drown.

And a woman, who recognized Elmoe’s Tattoo Parlor work; on Tacoma Avenue in Tacoma Washington.

She partially pulled down her pants to expose a left haunch to show me her tattoo nearly the same as mine.

And my best friend back in the day; Paul Budnick. He died in the late 90’s. Don’t know how he died. I still talk to him though. He had a Papillon tattooed to his right forearm too.

It wasn’t any man who had the moral courage to put what is commonly thought as a airy fairy symbol on your arm and be willing to defend it.

Knowing Paul, he would have preferred to die violently. He and I were brothers from a different realm.
