London-based Royal Institute for Security Studies expert Matthew Saville says that the ceasefire is very beneficial to Ukraine

-The Russians have some kind of momentum. Although not very quickly, what happened in Kursk last week will worry the Ukrainians in terms of the pressure they are under there. So a ceasefire, especially with the U.S. military aid and intelligence coming back, would be extremely beneficial to the Ukrainians. They might also try to pull some of their forces away from the front lines.

This will be disappointing to the Russians, who may have been hoping to essentially get the Kursk issue out of the conversation before they got to serious negotiations. But I think there will be a lot to see in terms of how the Russians will play with the terms of any ceasefire.
