Indiana Laundromat Shooting: Gunman Kills One Before Fatal Self-Inflicted Wound
On December 5, 2024, a tragic shooting occurred at a laundromat in Lafayette, Indiana. The assailant, 73-year-old Navy veteran Louis McGlothlin from Lincoln, Nebraska, entered the Lafayette Laundry and opened fire, killing 35-year-old Keith Ford and injuring two others, Renee Martin, 32, and Salvador Antonio De La Cruz Reyes, 30. McGlothlin then stepped outside, cleared a jammed weapon, and shot himself in the head, dying two days later at a local hospital.
Investigations revealed that McGlothlin believed individuals in Lafayette were "controlling his mind," indicating severe mental health issues. He had no known connections to the victims or the laundromat, suggesting he targeted the location simply because it was an open business in an area he recognized.
