High-Speed Pursuit Ends in 27th Arrest for Moreno, 20th for Martinez

On March 13, 2025, at approximately 5:24 p.m., Grundy County deputies arrested Christina M. Moreno, 43, and Jesus G. Martinez, 42, both of El Paso, Illinois, following a pursuit near Gardner.
Earlier in the day, Woodford County deputies had attempted to stop Moreno’s vehicle, but she fled. Grundy County deputies later located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Despite successfully deploying stop sticks and flattening at least one tire, Moreno continued to flee. Deputies then executed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, but Moreno still refused to stop.
Deputies ultimately surrounded Moreno’s vehicle and blocked it in. In an attempt to escape, Moreno rammed into the rear of an unmarked pickup truck and then backed into a marked squad car, causing damage to both vehicles. She and Martinez were then taken into custody without further incident.
A records check revealed that Martinez had multiple outstanding warrants, including:
* McLean County: Failure to Appear for Contempt and Larceny
* Woodford County: Failure to Appear for DUI and Driving on a Revoked or Suspended License
* Kendall County: Violation of Pre-Trial Release Conditions and Possession of Methamphetamine
Martinez, who had been arrested 19 times previously, now faces his 20th arrest.
Moreno was charged with Aggravated Fleeing to Elude and Criminal Damage to State-Supported Property. This marks her 27th arrest. She was booked into the Grundy County Jail, cited with a future court date, and later transferred to Woodford County, where she will face her 28th arrest.
Martinez remains in custody at the Grundy County Jail on his outstanding warrants.
