Man Who Smoked Marijuana Laced with PCP Fatally Sh**t* H*mself with Officer’s Gun

On January 25, 2025, around 1 a.m., Charleston Police officers responded to a welfare check at a gas station located at 200 W. Lincoln Ave. in Charleston, Illinois. The individual, identified as 22-year-old Yahacov Dennis from Country Club Hills, Illinois, had contacted 911 seeking assistance. During the interaction, Dennis informed the officers that he had smoked marijuana and suspected it was laced with PCP. As the conversation progressed, Dennis's behavior became increasingly erratic, culminating in him seizing an officer's firearm and using it to fatally shoot himself. Emergency medical services were immediately summoned, but Dennis was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.
