I should have never opened it.

The package appeared at my door at 3:33 AM.

I knew because of the camera notification.

No sender.

Only my address written in what looked like rusty ink…

Almost brown.

I opened it.

Inside was an old porcelain doll.

One of her eyes was missing.

Her lips were sewn shut with black thread.

As I held her…

I felt her stare.

I threw her away.

Slamming the lid of the trash bin shut.

That night, as I got ready for bed…

I felt a presence in my room.

I slowly turned…

And there she was.

The doll.

Sitting at the foot of my bed.

Staring.

I decided to burn her in the backyard.

As the flames consumed her…

Her eyes blinked.

And in the rising smoke…

A face appeared.

It smiled at me.

Since then…

I hear whispers in the walls.

I wake up with scratches on my skin.

And this morning…

Another package arrived.

A note inside read:

"You rejected my gift. Now I will claim you."

Something is breathing under my bed.

And my door…

Just shut on its own.
