Sealed book of Mormon Ch.40

AND now, it is expedient once again to return
to the account of the prophet John who prepared
the way for the introduction of the Christ unto
the people.
For it came to pass that the time finally
arrived when the Lord was allowed to begin his
ministry among the Jews according to their laws
and customs.
For in all things the Lord obeyed the laws of
the Jews, that he might draw them unto him and
not push them away from him, giving them a
cause to harden their hearts against his word For behold, the church was established
among them; and if the Lord could have gone
unto the leaders of the church and given them his words, that they might then give them unto
the people, who already had accepted the
leaders of the church as the mouth pieces of
God; yea, if he could have done this thing, then
he would have found a means; even the very
means for this purpose that he suffered to be
established among them in the days of Moses,
even that he might more successfully give his
words unto the people of the church.
But the leaders of the church had already
rejected him, he having been among them
previously and taught them his words as they sat
in their temples and in their synagogues.
And Jesus waited patiently until the time
came that he reached the age that a man was
accepted as worthy and ready to preach the
word of God. And because a church had been
established among them, it was a necessity that
he do those things which were expected of the
church, even that he should be baptized
according to their traditions.
