There is an obvious social embarrassment that was unfolding. A wedding celebration could last as long as a week, and the financial responsibility for the most part fell to the groom and his family. To run out of supplies would be a dreadful embarrassment and according to some historians it could led to legal troubles for the family.
LUK 11:27-28: A woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” HE (Yeshua) replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of GOD and obey it.”
6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
The numbers attached to the letters in a Hebrew word could be added together to give a numerical total. The number 153 is the numerical total for the Hebrew words "Ani Elohim" = I AM GOD. 153 reduces to 9 = truth.When Yeshua caused the disciples to catch exactly 153 fish, HE was declaring to them that not only was HE the Son of GOD, but that HE was GOD.
These pots were never to contain anything but water, now they would contain wine, thus they were no longer available to be used for purification.
The way that Yeshua does the miracle is worth noting. That being that HE did not do any outward visible action.We are not told of Yeshua touching the waterpots containing the water that was turned into wine or really wine was created. We are not even told that Yeshua said anything about the water to change its qualities. He simply willed the change to take place and it took place.
In order for wine to be produced, we have the growth and ripening of the grape; the crushing of it; the fermentation; all laws of nature brought forth by the creator. Here all those laws of nature are brought about in one moment of time.
