Barbecue (BBQ) is a cooking method that involves slow-cooking meat over low heat, usually with smoke from wood or charcoal, to enhance flavor. It differs from grilling, which uses direct high heat to cook meat quickly.

Grilling vs. BBQ
Grilling – High heat (350°F+), direct flame, quick cooking. Ideal for steaks, burgers, and vegetables.
BBQ – Low and slow (225–275°F), indirect heat, often with smoke. Best for large cuts like brisket and ribs.

Grills – Charcoal, gas, pellet, electric
Smokers – Offset, vertical, drum, kamado-style
Wood & Charcoal – Hickory, mesquite, oak, fruitwoods (apple, cherry)
