Start Carving Ep 8: Fish

In this segment I carve a simple fish. I am using a 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 x 4" piece of Basswood. This was a relaxing carve. I really got to just turn the carving over and over making it even and symmetrical on both sides.

I think this is an easy one for a beginner. You can make it out of any wood you can get. Eastern white pine would be the easiest to get as you can get it from a box store. Go to the trim section and get a chunk there. cut it to size. You can use something thinner than what I used though. The picture I used to draw this on the blank was about twice this size so I eyeballed it onto the blank. I didn't talk much in this one so I had to type in what I was doing.
