Easy Made Wooden Key Holder with Mail Storage

This is an easy beginner project to start with. Made with dimensional wood you can get from any big box store. I made the Key Holders from #8 horseshoe nails heated and beaten into shape.

I used pine boards for this build as it is easy to find. 1x6x10 and 1x4x10 cut to length for the big one. You can use 8 footers, but I found a better deal on the 10 footers. I used Famco wood filler and Durham's water putty as neither shrinks and covers well with paint. You don't have to use pocket holes to secure the bottom and can go straight in with the screws if you are going to fill to paint. Nothing listed here is paid advertising, just what I like to use.

Here are the some of the measurements I used:
Sides: (2) 1x4 x 13 1/4"
Top and Back: (2) 1x6 x 16"
Bottom: (2) 1x4 x 16"
Added "Stretcher": (1) 3/4 x 3/4 x 16"

I made the 4 hooks from #8 city horseshoe nails hammered the head out and scrolled to radius of my liking. I did not use heat until bluing the metal. Then sprayed it with a urethane clear coat. You can buy hooks, but I wanted to make these unique.
