This is going to be a nuanced and controversial topic. I assume that the sign is being interpreted as representing LGBTQ people. That's why it's become controversial. "Everyone is welcome here" sounds like a good message, but in this video, I discuss the dark side of inclusivity. For example, enabling troubling or harmful behavior whether it's intentional or not. The reason I think that the sign is related to LGBTQ is because students are protesting on behalf of the teacher who was forced to take down her sign. There was a protest sign with rainbow colored words on it. That usually indicates support for the LGBTQ community. So I can see how this situation has nuances in it.
