** Psalm 92 is a powerful song of praise, written as a Sabbath psalm, a day set apart for worship and reflection. Though the author remains unknown, many scholars believe it was composed during the time of King David or possibly later during the return from exile. The psalm reflects on the goodness of giving thanks to Yahweh, the temporary nature of the wicked, and the flourishing of the righteous who remain planted in God's presence.

Sung every Sabbath in Jewish tradition, this psalm is a call to worship and a reminder of God’s faithfulness from morning to night. It declares that those who trust in Yahweh will stand firm like a palm tree, bearing fruit even in old age.

This blues song captures the soul and depth of Psalm 92, blending timeless Scripture with the raw emotion of the blues.

** Psalm 92 (WEB - World English Bible)

A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day.

It is a good thing to give thanks to Yahweh,
to sing praises to your name, Most High,
to proclaim your loving kindness in the morning,
and your faithfulness every night,
with the ten-stringed lute, with the harp,
and with the melody of the lyre.
For you, Yahweh, have made me glad through your work.
I will triumph in the works of your hands.
How great are your works, Yahweh!
Your thoughts are very deep.
A senseless man doesn’t know,
neither does a fool understand this:
though the wicked spring up as the grass,
and all the evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.
But you, Yahweh, are on high forever more.
For behold, your enemies, Yahweh,
for behold, your enemies shall perish.
All the evildoers will be scattered.
But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox.
I am anointed with fresh oil.
My eye has also seen my enemies.
My ears have heard of the wicked enemies who rise up against me.
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree.
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
They are planted in Yahweh’s house.
They will flourish in our God’s courts.
They will still produce fruit in old age.
They will be full of sap and green,
to show that Yahweh is upright.
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

** Lyrics – "Flourish Like the Palm" (Psalm 92 Blues)

(Slow bluesy groove, deep and soulful)

[Verse 1]
It’s a good thing, Lord, to give You praise,
To lift my voice, to Your name be raised.
Morning light, I sing Your love so true,
Through the dark, Your faithfulness shines through.

[Verse 2]
With a ten-stringed lute, with a harp in my hand,
I rejoice in the works of Your mighty hand.
Oh, Yahweh, Your wisdom runs so deep,
While the foolish stumble, blind in sleep.

[Chorus] (Reflective, powerful)
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree,
Standing tall, strong, and free.
Planted in Yahweh’s holy ground,
Still bearing fruit when the years roll down.

[Verse 3]
The wicked rise up like grass in the field,
For a moment they shine, but soon they yield.
They may flourish, but they won’t stand long,
The wind will scatter what never was strong.

[Bridge] (Soulful and rich, with a slow blues break)
Oh, my horn is lifted like the wild ox high,
Anointed with oil, let my soul not dry.
I see my foes fade, hear them no more,
While I stand firm on Heaven’s shore.

[Verse 4]
Planted in Yahweh’s courts so grand,
Not shaken, not moved, by any man.
Even in old age, my soul will rise,
Green and full, under mercy’s skies.

[Chorus] (Repeat with passion, fading out slow)
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree,
Standing tall, strong, and free.
Planted in Yahweh’s holy ground,
Still bearing fruit when the years roll down.

[Outro] (Soft but powerful)
Oh, Yahweh, my rock, no wrong in You,
Forever standing, forever true.
