Week 8 Tutorial: The 40-Year Wilderness Wanderings (Numbers 15–36)

Week 8 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge have us finishing up the Book of Numbers as we witness the Israelites wander in the wilderness for over 38 years.

Following a brief discussion with Ebony, one of our challenge participants, today's tutorial begins with Chad outlining a big-picture overview of the Book of Numbers, followed by some key characters and their corresponding stories which take place in the Wilderness and Moab, including:
- Joshua and Caleb (Num. 13–14)
- Aaron, and his sons (Num. 15–19)
- Jesus Christ (Num. 20–21)
- the Sorcerer, the Successors, the Sisters, the Shrinkers, and the Splitters (Num. 22–36)

Chad's suggested approach to this week's readings includes the following four sittings:
- Numbers 15–19: more rebellion from the Exodus Generation
- Numbers 20–24: the Next Generation Israelites are blessed by Balaam
- Numbers 25–30: time spent on the plains of Moab
- Numbers 31–36: two-and-a-half tribes to remain
