In 1991, German Historian Herman Illig proposed the "Phantom Time Hypothesis", the claim that the years 614 A.D. through 911 A.D. never happened.
This seems nigh unbelievable, but then, after what many independent researchers including myself have uncovered over the past several decades, especially over the past 7 1/2 years, I expect that anything is possible.
