WATCH💥: SOD Hegseth announced today that he is signing a memo directing the termination of over $580 million in Department of Defense (DoD) contracts and grants that do not align with the priorities of the President or the department. In his view, these expenditures fail to make effective use of taxpayer dollars.

Among the contracts being canceled are: an HR software project initially projected to take one year and cost $36 million, but which has now spanned eight years and ballooned to $280 million over budget; $360 million in DoD grants aimed at decarbonizing emissions from Navy ships; $5.2 million allocated to a vaguely described initiative to "diversify the Navy"; $9 million awarded to a university for research into "equitable AI"; and an additional $30 million spent on external consulting services.
