Delicious Tahari Recipe - Fragrant Rice with Exotic Spices | Step-by-Step Cooking & Health Benefits
Welcome to our kitchen, where we're going to reveal the secrets of making the most delectable Tahari! This delightful rice dish is a burst of flavors, combining tender basmati rice, aromatic spices, and a medley of vegetables. In this step-by-step video, we'll guide you through the process of creating this mouthwatering delicacy.
Ingredients:
Onions: 2 medium-sized (sliced) Tomatoes: 3 medium-sized (chopped) Green Chilies: 5-6 (adjust according to your spice preference) Basmati Rice: 1/2 kg (soaked in water for 30 minutes and drained) Potatoes: 2 medium-sized (peeled and cut into cubes) Oil: 1 ladle or approximately 2-3 tablespoons Turmeric Powder (Haldi): 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder: 1 teaspoon (adjust according to your spice preference) Salt: 2 teaspoons (adjust to taste) Water: as required (approximately 3 cups)
Method:
Sauté the onions until golden brown, then add chopped tomatoes and green chilies, cooking until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates. Add the cubed potatoes and sauté for a few minutes. Mix in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt, coating the vegetables evenly with the spices. Add the soaked and drained basmati rice and gently mix it with the vegetables and spices. Pour enough water to cook the rice, with the water level about an inch above the rice. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover the pot, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice and potatoes are fully cooked. Let the Tahari rest for a few minutes before serving.
Tips & Tricks:
For an even more aromatic Tahari, add a pinch of saffron soaked in warm milk before serving. Customize the spiciness by adjusting the amount of green chilies and red chili powder to suit your taste. Use ghee (clarified butter) instead of oil for a richer flavor.
Health Benefits:
Basmati rice provides a good source of carbohydrates and essential nutrients. Turmeric contains curcumin, known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Tomatoes are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, supporting overall health.
