Zelensky tells Russia to drop ‘unnecessary’ demands ahead of peace talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian and US officials will meet for peace talks in Saudi Arabia next Monday, coinciding with US-Russia discussions.

Zelensky criticized Russian President Putin’s demands, including an end to military aid for Ukraine, and rejected claims that he discussed ceding Ukraine’s nuclear power plants to the US during a call with President Trump.

He reaffirmed that Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine and ruled out territorial concessions.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of continued military aid from the EU and the US.

The talks aim to address ceasefire proposals, including a halt to air strikes on energy infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the war continues, with both sides suffering casualties and strikes, the BBC has reported.

Zelensky also called for a European coalition to enforce any peace deal to ensure its lasting effectiveness.
