Short Summary
StarSheer is a cyberpunk science fiction anime that fuses the gritty, visceral bite of dystopian fiction with the hope of freedom and escape into a greater universe. Crushed by brutal tyranny and existential external threats, mankind is locked in an epic struggle for the soul and future of the species.

The Story
StarSheer follows a group of rebels as they attempt to escape the dystopian hellscape of earth to start a new life on a previously unknown planet. Using lost technology developed by one character’s deceased father, the group attempts to set up a portal system to evacuate not just themselves but enclaves of rebels from around the globe. Along the way they are forced to confront the rotting underbelly of a society that has regressed technologically and socially while abandoning any sense of individuality or freedom. Although powerful, the heroes’ technology does not render them immune from the prying eyes of powerful people who covet their ability to travel hundreds of light years in the blink of an eye. In light of this new technology the relative safety offered by the vastness of space becomes sheer, and traditional means of waging war are forced to adapt to the new reality; a reality that requires access to lost technology.

The Rebels aren’t the only faction on the rise, as tyrants and alien forces alike have seized upon the weakness of earth. Torn between their hopes of freedom and the fate of the species, the heroes are forced to make choices that will determine the fate of billions. War is looming and the people caught in the middle are the ones who just wanted to be left alone.
