The history of Ponce de Leon Springs dates back to 1513 when Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León embarked on a significant expedition. He traveled through the untamed wilderness of Florida, motivated by stories of magical waters believed to possess healing abilities. This expedition marked the first recorded encounter between Europeans and this untouched spring.

Discover the rich cultural history at De Leon Springs State Park and The Fountain of Youth. Then take a dip or snorkel in the crisp, clear and beautiful spring. A swimmer lift and ramp provide additional access. Canoe/kayak, paddleboat rentals and river boat tours are available. At the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant, guests can make their own pancakes at their table. Don’t miss the visitor center and Old Methuselah, the 600-year-old cypress tree.
