Sudan army closes in on presidential palace as bodies pulled from sewage pit

Troops of Sudan's regular army advanced on Thursday to within 500 metres (yards) of the presidential palace in Khartoum, seized by rival paramilitaries nearly two years ago, a military source said. As the army retakes territory held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), gruesome discoveries are being made, including bodies thrown into a sewage pit in a war-ravaged neighbourhood of Sudan's capital.
