Police Chase & Fatal Shooting After A Suspect Injured An Officer - Aurora PD. March 19.

According to police, on Wednesday, March 19th at around 1:30 AM, Geneva police officers encountered a driver, later identified as 19-year-old Christopher Lepe, in the 1500 block of South Randall Road after noticing what officers said was a car parked suspiciously. When an officer approached Lepe in his vehicle and asked him to exit the car after noticing he may have been intoxicated. Instead of getting out of his vehicle, police said Lepe drove off and dragged that officer a short distance and injuring him seriously before escaping. Police said.

Aurora Police responded to a mutual aid request attempting to locate a person, Lepe, wanted in connection with aggravated battery.

After obtaining the license plate of the vehicle and a description of the offender, officers located the vehicle traveling southbound on Lake Street near Galena Boulevard. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but Lepe refused to stop. A vehicle pursuit followed, and ultimately, the vehicle traveled northbound Route 25. As the vehicle of Lepe approached Ashland Avenue, officers successfully deployed stop sticks and the Lepe's vehicle came to a stop a short distance later.
As officers attempted to contact Lepe, but Lepe displayed a weapon, and two Aurora police officers discharged their firearms at Lepe. This resulted in Lepe being struck by gunfire. Officers rendered aid to Lepe until he was transported to a local hospital by Aurora Fire Paramedics. Lepe was pronounced deceased a short time later. Police said.
